Today we’re putting our farmers’ market twist on the traditional Mexican dish, Salsa Verde. Salsa Verde is beloved for its bold flavor and unique color, both of which can be attributed to the complexity of its key ingredient: tomatillos! Don’t be fooled by their name, tomatillos are not “little tomatoes.” Often referred to as Mexican husk tomatoes, these little green fruits (yes, fruit!) have a tangier flavor and denser texture than their red tomato cousins. For these reasons, tomatillos aren’t the best for eating raw - but they make the perfect base for a tasty salsa!
